tap: Welcome to Trainboard. Here are some interesting switching layouts that you could possibly use. Small switching trackplans Have fun.. Stay cool and run steam.....
http://andrews-trains.fotopic.net/p18402987.html this plan looks neat anyone knows what turnouts i would need?
Not bad. Only thing lacking, is a roundaround track. So you can spot a car into the "Odessa Hardware" spur. Boxcab E50
I really like this one : http://andrews-trains.fotopic.net/p18402995.html and this one: http://andrews-trains.fotopic.net/p10123358.html [ February 04, 2006, 12:13 AM: Message edited by: MagicMan_841 ]
anyone knows what part i would need for this one? http://andrews-trains.fotopic.net/p18402987.html and how could i add a roundaround track?
so actually , i will use this plan. its the hoboken shore rr. by atlas, its a 1x10.5 layout that i am going to modify, i will add more space between each track, and i will remove 1.25 foot at each end leaving on the right side on foot of straight track and on the left side about two feet. i finished building my benchwork, its two 2X4 modules made out of 1/2 inch plywood with one reinforcement bar in the middle. There is no legs, its made so i can place it on any kind of table. i am debating on wether using atlas code 83 track or peco tracks. i prefer peco for their realistic turnouts, but altas on the low cost. now for the power. i would like to use dcc,l so is there anything i should add, (or not add) to make this dcc operated? also i might use slow motion tortoise motor so the turnouts, but i think i am going to stick with atlas snap switches (if i use atlas track) or else i will use the peco turnout solenoid. i would also like having manual switches. anything else i should know? EDIT: also i will solder the tracks togheter, i have done so on my previous layout(oval layout) and it worked fine. and for weathering the track, here is what i would like to do: http://www.pacificcoastairlinerr.com/4x8/weathered_track/ and then to use oil pastels to add some colours. pictures coming! Hey Tap, If you can go 4x8 with 1.5x6 staging track , then have a look at trains.com then click on model railroading They are building one that you can see via a web cam it is live so what they are doing is going on right then. It changes every 10seconds. Alan
Hi all; New to your forum, but wanted to post some information as you seem to have some questions on my layout designs. I am the designer behind the layouts at: http://andrews-trains.fotopic.net/ All of the layouts are HO scale and are designed using either #4 or #5 switches. Deisgned on a 12" grid with a predisposition for the food industry since my favourite cars are boxcars and shorty tank cars - think corn syrup. I also like Appliance and Newspaper docks since they too can take short cars - think 40 foot High cube RBL boxes for both of these industries. If you have any questions please let me know and I'll do what I can to answer you. Yours sincerely Andrew Martin
Andrew: Welcome to Trainboard. You've designed some very nice switching layouts. With some effort they can be converted to N scale as well. Stay cool and run steam.....
