A few pics of HST's seen during our trip to Derby model railway show last saturday. First a MML one shot through the window of out train as we entered Nottingham (Lucky to get the station name in the pic!)
The front of the unit in the previous photo with a Virgin liveried one in another platform. The Virgin markings have been removed, as it now belongs to MML. Both these will be refurbished and repainted in the new Midland Mainline livery When the unit is in the trailing (pushing) position, the exhaust trails over the nose, resulting in this dirty look!
The reason for our trip was the Model Railway Exhibition. Here is a model of a Virgin HST Matt and Carolyne watching Carolyne's favourite HST - GNER (Great North Eastern Railway)
Great pics again Alan. None of the new paint scheme HST's around this time then? How was the show, I hear Derby is quite a good one usually?
Here in Canada, HST is virtually a swear-word acronym. Some provinces have combined the Federal and Provincial Sales Taxes into one 15% amount, and it's known as the " Harmonized Sales Tax", known as HST. Regards / Mike
It's good to see that the HST's are still pretty reliable after more than 25 years in service. I know that our members from "Down Under" have mentioned them a few times but I can't remember if we have had any photos of the Australian HST variant. This particular one has one of its power cars painted to advertise a well known sporting event and was pictured at Sydney in August 2000. John.
We did see individual coaches in the new scheme, and a power car, but not a whole train, guess I was lucky last month Derby is quite a big show, with high quality layouts and traders, this year was no exception. There is the main exhibition hall with a variety of layouts and traders, and the Darwin Suite which has alternate theme years. One year (this year) it is Continental European layouts and trade, and the alternate year American. I think I will take a trade stand next year, as it is a very well attended show.
