    Cowboys and US-modelrailroad-modules in Germany

    Moin, moin

Cowboys and mrr in Germany ?
Yes - we have cowgirls and cowboys in Germany too. :)

During the 2006 Radbruch Country-Fest I presented some 25meters H0-US-modules for the kids. No towns - only country.

Kids from 5 years on could do a job as engineer on the 3tracks.
Rolling stock was a mix of old Diesel- and Steamengines to modern CSX-engines.
Just the stuff, the kids asked me to put on the rails.

    Little engineers

Cowboys and gils + countrymusic life + modelrailroading = fun

More pics on my hp - but text only in German - sorry.

From 30.6. to 2.7. we had a modul-meeting in Hamburg.
I was asked to join a club meeting with my 3track-modules.

    Mostly modern rolling stock

We could use two large classrooms in a shool.
Some of my not yet finished modules could be used for the transit from one room to another.

    Videos and pics !

    Great work and photos Harald!

I really like your design for the magnets, that is clever and simple too! Well done! :D

I apologize Harold, you are correct. I guess when one is older than a rock, one's mind slips a notch or two.

Wolfgang has an excellent idea for mounting Kadee magnets! Sorry Wolfgang! Give credit where credit is due!

Wolfgang solved the problem of cars accidentally uncoupling as they pass over a magnet in the event they happen to coast ahead, providing enough slack for the knuckles to disengage, such as on a down grade section of track.

He also saves money by using one magnet to service two, (or more) tracks, while providing a neutral position where the magnet is not able to affect any coupler, whether sitting, or in transit.

He also solves the occasional problem when switching, where a car may happen to stop over a magnet, but is only waiting for a turnout to be changed so the car can be pulled away to be placed at another location. With the magnet mounted normally, the car would have been left in place, but as Wolfgang can move his magnet out from under the coupler at will, he has provided means for a decision here. This is a really worthy design innovation!

It is a positive action when wanted, easy to construct and mount, with possibility of operating signal lights for detecting position as well.

    Very well done Wolfgang! :D

I think it might also operate with a serpentine "choke rod" method as well as with the solid rod he has described.

(I have experimented with metal tubing curved to suit conditions or changing direction and elevation with a plastic wire of .080" diameter, (instead of music wire), as a "push/pull" actuator.

Using "weed trimmer" line holds some promise here, and is available in bulk spools. It seems to be stout enough to operate Peco turnouts, and is insulated. A standard tubing bender works well, and the plastic line will slide in the curved bends better than music wire does.)

Its just a thought, with a bug or so to be worked out yet. :D

    Moin watash

I´m just some 25 years younger than You - but this problem is not uncommon to me :))

To Wolfgangs magnet design - it really works fine.

I myself don´t use magnets anymore. I uncouple with a little screwdriver just were I need the rolling stock to stay. Works fine also.

This works fine, because during FREMO-sessions, each engine has an operator who accompanies - throttle in hand - the train on its way.
Therefore, You are never far from the place to uncouple.
