I recently picked up some Atlas/Rivarossi cars and needed a way to store them apart from the huge box and styrofoam shell I bought them in. I found the boxes below. They are cheap and are available at craft stores, art supply shops and fishing tackle stores. The cases don't have much extra room for the cars to bang around in, but there's room to add some thin padding if you like. They have a pretty slick system of dividers, very finely adjustable. I haven't yet replaced the Rapido couplers, so I know the dividers will be used to snug things up once the MTs are on.

This looks like it will work great for my needs, hope it helps somebody else.

Those look really nice, do they make them in various sizes?

What was the name of the craft store you got them at?

    Thanks for sharing.

They do come in larger sizes. I got mine as fishing gear, but a quick Google of "Infinite Divider System" will bring up many hits. I will be checking Michaels and Sam Flax to see if I can spot them there.

My next quest is to find something similar to store my F Units with A & B attached by drawbar.

Those are cool! I'd be prone to using a layer of bubble wraop to reduce any rattle damage.

Gee, I hope you don't have a 15 or 20 car train! That could get expensive and heavy....

I just tried the A Line boxes and they hold an abundance of stuff! Would you believe double decker style too?

That is a concern ... these particular boxes are $3.50, so not too expensive and they are pretty light as well. I looked at A Line, but I just can't get too excited about cardboard.

I've been using the "flambeau brand" tackle boxes (except larger types) for my boxless cars. The come in numerous sizes and are easy to store.
I take a little bubble wrap and hot glue it inside the appropriate car size openings. The cars fit in well and transport to and from the club in one neat package rather than numerous small ones. Saves time when packing for run nights - and I always know whether I'm bringing everything home from the club visits too.

I understand your concern about the cardboard,,,, however, when I saw the amount of cars it allowed me to carry with no damage and light weight, it won me over. [IMG]

I'm not a fan of the cardboard box systems. If they get wet... hasta-la-vista baby. I agree with Balou on the bubble wrap or other dampening material. Small fishing tackle (lure)boxes which hold 5 or 6 40' cars are available at Wal-mart for about $2.00 or less (when I got some 8 yrs ago they were $.99). The ones you're showing cost more because they can be adjusted to whatever size you need... not a bad idea.
