This is a very popoular and beautiful railfanning location that is just under the 25 mile mark from my home. It is Bear Mountain New York. Tim Wakeman [This message has been edited by E-8 (edited 12 August 2000).]
Tim, what a superb first post Welcome to TrainBoard! No way I can beat that for scenery, anywhere near me - or most other places in the UK! I can see this is going to be a tough contest ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com
That is a beautiful spot. I could go for a cabin overlooking it! ------------------ Robert Ray The NP & UP N-Scale Railroad
Excellent! When was this pic taken? Are those locos F7's? There is a similar spot on the UP line in Redding, California crossing the Sacramento River. ------------------ Bill "Get Goosed on the Yreka Western"
Hi all, It was taken August 8, 1998. There are all three of Conrails E-8 locomotives powering this Office Car Special. Since the break-up of Conrail, the locomotives have been retired. Tim
Tim, Beautiful location! Get the guest room ready, me wife and I are on our way Thanks for sharing such a wonderful treat.
That's a great picture and I'd love to go there and camp out and watch the trains, but in my opinion, the greatest railfan place has to be Horseshoe curve. It may not be as pretty as the place in the picture, but the sheer volume of rail traffic... well you know what I mean Frisco "Frisco fast freight"
OUTSTANDING! You have the eye of an artist. Congratulations! ------------------ When in doubt, empty your magazine.
