Don, You are correct about the station. It was called Seaboard Station and was used up until about 1986. If you look back at the photo for # 502, you'll see the track curving off to the left. It then curves back to the right when it approaches the station. ( A large S curve). Around 1986, CSX ( in their infinite wisdom) pulled up the tracks between Norlina, N.C. and Petersburg, Va., effectively cutting off our access to the North on the "S" line. Amtrak now stops at the old Southern station on the NS line. At Raleigh, the Silver Star heads due east to Selma via NS and then crosses back onto CSX for the journey north, via the "A" line. Harold
