Is there only one shade/name for BN green? I've heard "Cascade Green" but not sure if thats the one/only one. Also, if anyone has the CMYK numbers, or spot color number, that would be awesome. [ 22. December 2004, 21:31: Message edited by: nscale_lover ]
Dupont's database currently has these colors with "green" in the name in their database for the fleet name of Burlington Northern. In alphabetical order: BNSF Corporate Green (6 stock codes) Burlington Green (1 stock code) Cascade Green (1 stock code) Green (12 stock codes) New Burlington Green (1 stock code) Then there are: 2 different blue names (14 stock codes) 3 different orange names (16 stock codes) 2 different silver names (4 stock codes) 1 white name (7 stock codes) 1 gray name (1 stock code) 1 fawn name (6 stock codes) John
Here were most of the green color chips I could find. Not all stock codes (including Cascade Green) had chips attached. The top center bright green was one of the plain Green's. John
Hooch, which of the greens is the lightest (minus the one "plain" green) ? And can I get the info for that one?
Interesting. The ligyhtest is not the real BN green? I'm guessing the real Cascade green was a darker shade, that simply faded int he harsh western sun to the lighter color we all know.
Is it worth the time to be cheap about this and try to order a mass quantity of BN green, hope to get the color right, and see if anyone who likes to repaint the fleet in BN green will split the costs with me... or should I just suck up the price of the very very small spray cans (sorry, forget the maker) at my LHS?
Polly Scale colors are about the most consistent, and Modelflex the least consisteent, FWIW. It's your railroad, run it how you like. If you can live with off-tinted BN green, cool. I for one, cannot.
I've seen so many versions of green, but the differences were mostly on older power so just about anything will be correct, as long as there is a mix.
At one time, Floquil had a color named "Weyerhaeuser Green." I used it for BN units that had seen some use and weathering. Is this still available? Boxcab E50
A Closer Look I've done some RGB experiments and this is what I've been able to come up with. However they can vary due to Computer Monitor Settings. Cascade Green (Version 1) Red: 4 Green: 152 Blue: 52 Cascade Green (Version 2) Red: 4 Green: 136 Blue: 50 Cascade Green (Version 3-Lighter shade of Version 1) Red: 4 Green: 162 Blue: 62
