I told Ken that when I started this model I would post it. I took an AHM gon, stripped it, took off grabs and sturrups, cut it up, used a hot nail and soldering iron for dents and holes. Now it's ready for paint. I reworked the bottom by adding KD coupler pockrts and couplers then filled in the holes where the trucks mount so I could use screw on Accurail trucks. The white styrene on bottom of pic is the new wooden plank floor, has to be painted yet. More when the paint dries!
Dents and dings! Certainly appropriate condition for any car referred to as a "work" gondola. Boxcab E50
Ken, You wouldn't happen to know what the numbers would be on this kind of car? Even a few starting numbers and I can fudge the rest. The car was marked Milw. with a white tilted rect. herald. It was black also except the spot where the numbers would go was cut off on the side I could see. I have it painted and I am ready to decal it.Still have to paint the wood floor and age it, then a few goodies like welding tanks, tool box, electro magnet, and some junk and it's done!!
Andy- Not at a quick glance. I dashed through a book or two. See pictures of many gondolas and flats just for what you are doing. But at such angles, or partly obscured.... That I cannot read a number. I fear vthat my resources may let us down on this one! Boxcab E50
Thanks for looking Ken, I will check a few other model gons I have and pick up a number that way. Thanks again!
Andy- When I get a chance, will look again. Can't believe there's not something in my mess of books, etc. Numbering should probably be in the m-o-w "X90----" series. But what? Boxcab E50
Hey Andy The best I can come up with is this http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw-x248ajs.jpg http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/ri/ri92545ads.jpg http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw901561ags.jpg see if it works for you. George [ January 13, 2006, 04:44 AM: Message edited by: GCH ]

Hey Andy, The more I see of your layout the more I look forward to some new pictures. I think it looks great. I like the gondola by the way, I do believe it turned out rather nice. Unbelievable that you asked for car numbers and then someone provided the prototype out by your back door !!!! I only wish I had that kind of luck. George
Thanks guy's It really came out all banged up! I will be posting more pics of the layout as I go.Just about ready for anew Tunnel City post. staytuned!!
