As I pulled through Montrose today I actually saw a Cotton Belt Engine leading one of the Rio Grande Engines...no camera of course!!
Hemi, I hope to actually get some trains in my future pictures of Ruby Canyon. We'll see what this summer brings. Ben
I've been in the same situation before. Bummer! Maybe they will keep both units working that branch for a while. Ben
D&RGW 14910, in Midvale, Utah According to the D&RGWM&HS this car was built in June of 1966. I don't think there's any black paint left on it, LOL. Glad to see it's still on the rails though. PHL
Its a 2 axle car so I'm guessing it has speed restrictions on it like maybe 25 MPH so I bet it don't get far from where its assigned just for that reason. They are not in big demand so I bet its assigned to a district or division like most MW equipment.
Covered Hopper 15500 This unit, although not a very good photo, was caught in Salt Lake City on Monday of this week. Nice to see some D&RGW equipment still in revenue service. PHL
Great catch! Be on the look out for the cars below. (I hope they were moved but not scrapped.:we-no U.P. has been cleaning up a lot around here lately and these box cars recently disappeared. Ben
Caught this one on the Eastern Washington Gateway, approaching Cement, WA late last month. AEX is The Andersons: The Andersons, Inc. - Rail Group
Awesome catches guys. They all look a little worse for wear but its great to see they are still in action!
These car halves are sitting in a local salvage yard. They are still surviving (barely). Here both halves sit next to one another. Ben
I have no idea. It looks like they are used for storage. One would think that a complete car would make for a better storage unit. Ben
