Any good railfanning there or do you have better spots? Can your Rand-McNally Streetfinder helps us there?
Shoreham Yard id fairly well off limits. You really can't get a good look in there from outside the fence. You can get close to the line in many spots leading in and out of there, though. Central Ave is a good spot to watch for action, though mostly WC now, from Columbia Park. MNNR's New Brighton yard is also good for a looksee. You can be on the road and watch from there. Hoffman Ave, below Indian Mounds Park, goes without saying as the top spot in the Twin Cities. You will see all but WC there. Be carefukl of getting too close to the tracks - they are strict. Try the following online guide - http://people.mn.mediaone.net/n0kfb/homepage/tc_rails/tc_rail1.htm Yes, the Streetfinder (we call it a street directory) is a great tool for finding where things are. Your best bet is to get one. Available from Target, K-Mart, Walmart, et al, if you are in the TC area, or get it ordered in. Gary. ------------------ Gary A. Another spot for CP action is the University location on the BN where CP leaves BNSF rails and continues to Humboldt Yard(westbounds). Just south of the University Avenue bridge over Northtown Yard's bottleneck there is a Bemis Tape facility. You can drive in to the east past the warehouse and find a well used railfan spot. Best for afternoon photos.
