Sorry to be a novice on this... What are the current FEC colors? On the 'piggies in a bucket' thread, there is a FEC in UP colors. I am not sure what color I thought they were, but not UP. I was surprised at that. [ July 11, 2005, 03:28 PM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
I don't know that the FEC paint is UP inspired more than the fact that they decided to save money by simply removing the UP decals and numbers and applying their own. The A&O is in the process of doing that now up here in WV with about 17 SD50's.
CP&E thanks. I thought it was a chessie type scheme. On looking again, I guess it is obvious that it is a UP repaint. Still, are the FEC colors blue? Red?
I do not think they have had any "new" units to paint... The last things that I have read say that they have bought used again. That may have something to do with their paint schemes... Harold
The only paint they do use as far as I know is a dark blue with red and white safety stripes on the ends and side frame. Here's a link to GP38-2 #509 .
The red and white stripe are gone on the lastest paint scheme along with the hurricane logo. The second photo here: http://trains.nordicus.net/update08052005.html shows the latest scheme. As fo the Yellow SD40's when they cleaned them after coming from UP the paint was still good so it was a cost saving measure.
I knew when Harold had the "I'm Not Worthy" flying, I'd better take a look and he's right. That head on shot is especially kewl. KB
