I'll start it--I haven't seen the thread yet. This is an overall view of my engine facilities. It features the new N scale Walthers turntable.
Attempting Ballasting for the first time. More pictures here. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/1657
Proto vs Model The Visco Chemical Company and Imperial Cotton Gin from prototype photo to N scale re-creation.
Russ, Up just a bit more and to the left a scooch, and the presepctives will match perfectly. Love that backdrop--looks like the 5-minute spray-bomb technique that can be very effective. Nice view!
Closeup of finished Ballasted and weathered Unitrack Here is a closeup of Unitrack that has been completely ballasted and weathered. I used Color Canyon Materials natural rock very fine ballast. The roadbed was initial sprayed with grimy black. the grimy black on the rails was hand brushed with mineral red. The ties were painted a railtie brown. The spike heads were painted a burnt sienna/raw sienna with a 18/0 sable brush. This was very time consuming, but the results were well worth all the effort.. Stay cool and run steam.....
CMR 135' turntable Here is a view of the CMR 135' turntable and some service tracks on the JJJ&E: Stay cool and run steam.......
From the N Scale forum: Well, perhaps the plutonium reactor across the bay exploded. Or I needed to move all the roundhouse workers whilst installing the new turntable! I needed a place where the workers wouldn't experience an N Scale Norm encounter with the vacuum. Bob, That CMR TT looks really great! Especially the bridge. I read your step-by-step article here, which was great! It's certainly a good alternative to the Walthers TT.
Pete: You saw the turntable close up and personal when you visited the JJJ&E last February. It was fun building the CMR 135' turntable, but it took 16-18 hours to do so. Stay cool and run steam.....
Great stuff people, always enjoy seeing what others are doing. Here's some recent additions to the rosters, MDC RS3 & Ramax NP LO with an AHM Flex-i-flo thrown in for good measure, to become a NYC car along with the RS3.
awesome shots everyone, esp love Stefans shots, that first one is definately a WOW shot!!!! and congratulations to Russell, that I could only find one difference, your train has a caboose!! heres mine for this weekend, since I've been working for most of the time I've been awake, I'll put up this oldie of 3 SD70MAC's on an MT coal on the Syd N scale club layout.
Really good pictures so far. Bob, I have always liked that turntable you built. Russ, great recreation of that area. Stefan, gotta love SP. I tried a bit of weathering Saturday. Be kind, don't have clue as to what I am doing but then again that may be why I am not starting on $35.00 Kadee cars. Also finally have an operator for my TD25 and a foreman.
Diesel Lineup I must say I am far behind on my TrainBoard reading as I am preparing for open house and operating sessions at the next NMRA Lone Star Region convention in June. I can't believe it is this busy just getting prepared! I may not even get to the convention right here in San Antonio. Part of this preparation is running several operating sessions on the layout. At the beginning of one session I noticed all these engines lined up together in staging. Pretty neat! It is the only time in the session when they are all together. These are all road lashups on my Espee layout. Thought I would squeeze this in on WNFF. Larger Picture, Click Here
Pete Nice shot of the roundhouse area! Pher Looks like you are off to a good start! Russell Great shots comparing the proto and the model! Bob Nice job on the ballast! Pete Another cool shot of the roundhouse area and someone better wake those slackers up! Stefan Awesome shots! I am floored! Brian Cool looking equipment! Alex Nice looking train! Chad Great looking cars and dozer! Flash Great shot! That is a lot of locos!
Since there is no weekend roll-by topic I hope none minds. Here are my brand new P2K PRR PA1 and PB1 locos leading a passenger train with a few reefers in tow.
