Heres some shots from my favorite SP yard...Mojave Mojave Flyer sits in the yard. 7660, and the wye in the back ground. Mojave yard limit sign. Thom
W&P/P&W "yard" at beaverton Or BNSF yard Portland Or. I believe this is the P&W yard in Albany as the Engine shops are located here, but I understand that UP had or has a yard here and I can never keep all the oregon traction, SP and such tracks organized in my head, so I could be wrong.
That spot looks familiar- is that by the engine house tracks at the east end of the yard? One thing I wish I coulda done but didn't (due to the heavy rebuilding of US491), was take shots of Gallup Yard from the bridge over the middle, both directions.
Okay, few British ones, this is St Blazey yard, in Cornwall, shot from a passing train in 2003. Mail vans, clay hoppers, tanks of diesel and a couple of loco's reside... And my local yard at Exeter. At the time of taking the pic this was operated by Wessex Trains, and it's responsible for minor maintainence, cleaning and stabling of the diesel units used on local passenger trains. At left is the office, then the siding with diesel tanks (since this was taken fuel deliveries now come by road ) then the maintainence shed. The wash track is hidden behind the unit, outside to the right of the shed. Have to say it's not usually this quiet, but it does allow a good view of the whole facility.
