Were these units used only in passenger service (that's the only consist in all the photos I have seen) or did they do freight/switching as well?
After VIA took over CNs passenger business, they(RS-18m 3150-3155) went back into the general freight pool. They may have been regeared at that time but were retired in 1983.
I believe all 6 were sold off to a South American railway. When the HEP units were added the short hoods were extended to the end of the frame eliminating the walkway so they less than suitable for any type of duty where cars had to be switched.
