Ok help me out here guys. A while back I recall hearing something to the effect that Life Like had gotten bought out. Is this true? how has this affected LL production schedules. Can I expect more beautiful steam engines? Could one dream of finding a Atlantic in the Heritage series?

    Thanks.

Yes, Life Like was bought by Walthers earlier this year or late last year, can't remember. The only major thing affected was the price, big increase!!!! Also there was a parts shortage for a while, but that has been resolved I think.

Yep. Walthers bought out LL a few years ago. I just wish Walthers would hurry up and get the LL website back up

Is there a big problem in getting parts???? I need a new gear for my GP20, it has split where the wheels press into it.

Matthew - Use an Athearn axle gear. It fits just right and won't split like the LL's.

I have been wanting some parts for a P2K 0-6-0, but no luck with either LifeLike or Walthers. Walthers was taking an exceptionally long time to figure out what they had bought. The service contact was very professional, but simply could not fulfil my request because they weren't sorted out. Still waiting :(

    Thanks for the info guys.

I noticed they do not have the 0-8-0. Not that I need another, but it is a awesome product.

That 2-10-2 looks pretty sweeeeeet! Drool Drool. Of course it would look silly on my time saver module. LoL I guy can dream though.

    I can't help noticing the P2K 0-6-0 unlettered w/out sound going for $225.00. WOW!

If you don't mind shopping on Ebay you could get a P2K 0-8-0 w/out sound for $105.00, shipping included. I just recently bought one unlettered for this amount.

Yes, prices are way up for the Walthers re-release. I paid something under CAN$200 for a CNR version several years ago, not long after LifeLike introduced them.

If you can, try for the unlettered version, as it includes lots of extra parts to tailor the look of the loco to your road and/or preferences. Sometimes the look they have chosen for a stated road is not always what you might want. My CNR version looks like a Grand Trunk. CNR did acquire several of them from GT, but I wanted a "home grown" version. No spare parts in the "pre-lettered" ones... and I have been trying ever since to get them :(
