Okee dokee. With all the discussion about those cat construction vehicles through the past few weeks, i decided to check into them. Well, over here in Ontario Canada, it seems that our Walmart doesn't carry them. However, they do carry this other line of vehicles, called mini machines. They are very cheap, and even come in a plastic display case. They are $2.42 each, and they have motorcycles, snowmobiles, cars, (non of which are even close to N, or HO for that matter) However, i did manage to find at 2 different stores some decent construction equipment. Now, they are about right for N scale, but would be best in a large quarry scene. The loader works out to be about 45ft teeth to rear, and the dump truck in the 35ft area. When you put an n scale figure beside them, they look pretty much as they would in real life. I have included a few pictures of them. I also found a field combine, which would probably represent one from a very large farm. The cutting head is about 12ft long, which is not too far off prototype. Anywho, drop me a line if you want more info.

The dump truck and loader look good. Who makes them?

Bright yellow, grey lettering. They are mixed in with some other stuff..

I have two combines to go on my new OTTX flats. Those will be ready this weekend.

Just proves that us Canadians never get in on any of the action from South of the border.....or pay dearly for it. Where's the free trade ?

They are made by a company called Toy Zone Inc. They have different color boxes actually. One of mine was in a Yellow one, the other in a red one. I have included a shot of the box, and another couple of the equipment. My apologies for the very crappy picture of the box, but you can get the rough idea of what it looks like. They scale out to be fairly decent in size, and the loader and dump truck would work great in a larger quarry, but really dwarf regular dump trucks.

I had bought one of each earlier in the summer at a WalMart in Vineland NJ. Haven't seen them for sale since and have yet to find any of the CAT equipment. Wish I had bought a couple more of the others, they'd be great for a coal mine.
