    New Pass

I got a new pass with a low number. I thought I was the only one sending out low numbers. HA! One came from someone who got my name on a list so there is still interest for pass cards out there.:tb-biggrin:

Indeed, there is still interest out here! I have to get busy and get a pass done for my Kiskiminetas Railroad (even though I haven't even started construction yet). This is simply another interesting facet of the hobby. I note that many seem to receive "added bonuses" when they receive a pass. I have seen mentioned stock certificates, railway histories, layout pictures. Could one of you who have been doing this a while simply post a list of all the "goodies" you have received over the years? I would like some idea of what all to include in a "packet." Thanks!

    Father-

    Please do create a Pass!

What I have received, is amazing at times. Beyond a letter of one and many more pages, detailing the imagined histories, there have been photos, cloth patches, stock certificate, one fellow created a tri-fold brochure that looked just like something the Milwaukee Road would have issued. One fellow from overseas sent a package with post cards, maps and more of his actual vicinity. Real railroad forms, real railraod forms adapted to model RR, "business" cards and....................

I have a thick folder stuffed with these added goodies. Wow! Great fun!

I recieved from Ray Cherniak a train ticket. a pseudo CN 1-way ticket. Mr.Train mentioned he got a different one as well, and that the train ticket was numbered way higher than the pass, like the owner was swapping tix before he started doing Passes.

Tip for you, if you print your own and want to use Avery products, go to their website and click on "Design and Print online". Don't ask me why, but MS Office cannot get the margins and spacing right when commincating the templates to the printer, but running it through Avery's site does. I desgn mine in Pubshler, select it all and group it, then right click on the grouped items and save it as a picture. Avery then will let you import that picture to their card, which is much faster than tryingto play with it online.

Or you could do it a better way.,,

    Father William,
You can do all that BoxcabE50 said or you can do just the pass card. Remember this is to be fun not work. I send out a pass and a short letter telling how I got into modeling and a little about my layout now. What ever you do have fun with it.
    And send me one!!:mcool:

Correct. I was not inferring that he needed to do anything extra. Just answering his inquiry about what had been received over the years.

Hey guys, two new postcards from Walter Zahn, so I pass them along. We have a Chandner Apt of the Tenopah & Silver Peak RR, and a Ben Harris of the Flat Broke Short Line. If you do not have Passes from them, or postcards from Walt, PM me and I'll get you their contacts.

No, I'm not putting their addresses on the interwebz. I know better.

PS: I also go two bounced letters I sent to Canada. I wonder what I'm doing wrong?

I'd just sent mine off to Chandler A...

As far as those bad addresses, they might be fellows who have passed on, moved, or? Also, there has been some postal trouble recently in Canada.

Gonna hope for that last one. They came back as Incomplete address, but I don't see what I forgot. last thing we need is to lose more good modellers...

All I have is my own list and an old one from about 2006 via Ray Cherniak. Nothing from Walt.

    Folks,

with great sadness, I must pass on bad news. A pass mailed to Micheal Chambers of Liberty MO was returend to me today, postmarked "Deceased. Return to Sender." (mailed May 12) Please update your lists accordingly if this is news to you.I've just dropped two notes into the mail to Ray Cherniak and Walt Zahn, who are kinda heading this whole shindig up for Canada and the US respectively, but wanted to post here as well should you guys not be on their lists.

I have twist on the pass exchange idea For those of you who are old enough to remember the paper card sides that were printed in the NMRA Bulletin This could also be done with the computer and given to visitors like a pass Then if they would like to they could use an accurail reefer or branch line reefer and discard the sides and replace them with the card sides and use all of the hardware from the kit to have a rolling tribute of there visit the sides could also be exchanged via Email If anyone would like to explore this farther contact me by PM thanks Paul

Glennwood: One flaw with that. I can't stand the look of paper sides done badly, and I can't do them good. Decals on the other hand...
