Did everyone participate in "Take A Model Train To Work Day 2006"? For the third year I've participated...often only for a few hours but I've got decent response from coworkers. Of course most of them are geeks, too...be it computers, or Star-whatever, or web-pop-culture, or what have you.

I setup a loop of Unitrack, my Zephyr, an Atlas Dash 8, and five of the new IM covered hoppers and let it run. I think I may leave it for part of Monday as well, since I didn't get a chance to set it up until the afternoon.

Here are a couple of pics...as you can tell I'm part vampire as my office is pretty dark, but the train was very visible.

I encourage everyone to give it a shot. I've always gotten good response out of it. I had some flyers printed up for the Fort Worth train show this weekend that I gave out to a few people. So hopefully I've done a small bit of good, who knows.

If you did participate, share the experience with us!

I have to say that I didn't know about it. Who sponsors this? Is there someplace we can read about it on the internet?

[edit] I just found this thread from Nov 14, 2003.

I won't take the whole train but I will be showing off the Pink Fox Lines cars. Most folks have seen the pictures of them.

I would love to but when you work on the factory floor building the cabs for the real one's there really isn't any place to set it up and kind of becomes redundent.

    Doug,

Hmmm. Awful clean desk. Along with the train on it, this might suggest that you don't have enough to do at work. I hope your boss doesn't see this photo!
