Not sure what is happening this weekend. Football is done and basketball won’t start until January. We do have the biweekly shopping tour to do. I may even get to visit the LHS as we have to pick-up some Cub Scout stuff for my son and the LHS carries scouting supplies. Also the wife wants a new outfit for her new job and her favorite clothing store is next to the LHS. On the layout I need to finish the foam base for the mountain. Then I would like to start contouring the mountain and work on the tunnel portals. I need to make two coal loads.
I don't think I will get much modeling in this weekend. Instead of chasing trains I plan on riding one. Driving to San Antonio to visit my son on Saturday and Sunday.
We're heading NOB (north of the border) on our annual fall 'pilgrimage' to see friends and family for Thanksgiving. So this gives my one of my two opportunities per year for visiting my (not so Local) Hobby Shop. Probably won't happen until early next week, but since I won't be posting for a while, that's close enough to call it 'weekend modeling plans'. I am bringing the latest MR and Trains magazines with me to have something to read while the wife takes her turn driving. Later Ed
I am struggling with some minor track problems. Two switches are being difficult. All this because I wanted to save money. GRRRRrrrrr... Maybe this wekend I can fix that.
I probably won't be able to get too much done with so much c**p in the way, but I'm planning to do some trackwork on the main layout. If I don't get to that, I've got a few vehicles to paint as well.
I've got a house full of boxes to unpack, and a garage full of heavy furniture to move inside. However, at some point this weekend I'm going to need a break, and I will take the fiance to go look at some hobby shop or a club layout - something interesting. She seems as excited as I at the idea of building a small layout or a module. She's fascinated by the miniature world of trains - much more rom for creativity than a dollhouse and there is activity as well. Prepping her for my hobby is time well spent.
Tina and I are setting up JTW at the Great Train Expo in Rock Island IL. We will be selling our new winter denim shirts in BNSF and it's predecessor lines. During breaks I'll probably walk the show and look for the bridge I need for my B&M layout. Jim
I would like to inventory all the locos and rolling stock I currently have before deciding what the next purchase will be. Seems I have been collecting a lot of hoppers coal and grain and intermodals and perhaps not enough box cars, tank cars etc. Plan to get some trains running as well since the weekend weather is not looking that good.
Owen - Do you need a database to inventory the equipment? I have something in MS access. My own plans: Nada
I have a lot to do around the house (rake leaves, clean gutters etc) but I hope to find time to lay in more foam scenery in the Ozark area.
I'm setting up for photos, which means I find a whole host of little details to attend to. Nothing like an unplanted shed to ruin a photo.
I have a visual plan for the empty space on one end of the layout. Just in my mind. Came to me this morning while attending a boring meeting. Maybe this weekend I'll see how everything will fit and maybe even get started on it? If not, there is always the new industry to complete, scenery to work on, the area under the layout to clean up, some wiring to redo, oh' forget it and hand me a Foster's... Doc
I'm trying to figure out a way to store my modules. Currently have 6 that are 6' long I also have three corners but they may end up staying set up. I was thinking of building a rack in one corner of the basement that I could slide the modules in and out of but i'm not sure at this point....
I stand to go to work tonight, which won't put me home till sunday morning:sad: Oh well, I usually have more time during the week for modeling:teeth: That being said, next weeks modeling plans: Pour a couple of molds. Start the master for a board and batten sided tool house. And if I have the time, have Thanksgiving dinner:rolleyes2:
Finish laying my outside loop. (HO) Go to a train swap meet, then to the HO club display I went to last week. Should be a pretty exciting weekend for trains!
Assuming it isn't a super awesome day like it was last week, I'm going to be finishing up the backdrop and laying some foam. If I'm super productive, maybe even some track will go down.
