You get what you paid for!!!

Many, MANY years ago a fellow down in Houston placed an ad in some of the larger newspapers around the country offering "INFORMATION ON JOB OPPORTUNITIES ABROAD. SEND $2.50 TO: " and there was an address. People who responded - and about 100,000 did - received the "help wanted - job opportunities abroad" from the New York Times and a FREE government brouchure. He was prosecuted for mail fraud. The judge ask the federal prosecutor what people who responded to the ad received and the prosecutor responded that they had received "Information on job opportunities abroad". The judge then ask "What did he promise to deliver" and the prosecutor responded that he had promised "Information on job opportunities abroad." It seemed to the judge that people had received EXACTLY what had been promised - although not what, perhaps, had been expected - and he kicked the case out of court.

In examining the Walthers' ad it appears you - unfortunately perhaps - got exactly what was promised for the monies tendered. I thought the ad was very clear.

And no, I'm not going to go over to the Atlas Forum as I was advised to do after one of my previous "negative" responses.

Although, I do somewhat agree with you. Still does not mean it wasn't "Deceptive". You can be totally honest in representing somehhing, and still be deceptive. So, just because legally you were in the right, does that mean it is ethical? I don't think so. Legality has nothing to do with ethics. I don't think Walthers is being unethical either, and their add may not be deceptive on purpose, but it is, and they should be even more clear than they are. I legally don't think they did anything wrong either, because if you do read very closely, it is fairly clear. But, in my first response, I still stand saying that I personally do not like feeling I have to be "so" careful to be sure I am getting what I paid for, or what I "think" I paid for. Sure, I should in these times, but, I am old school, and just feel that you shouldn't have top feel the need to watch your back so close. Know what I mean? Having to, sort of makes for a "suspetious" world. The point is, a company should cater to their customers, and not result to legal "trickery" IMHO. It kinda gives it that "used car salesman" mentality.

Ok I have a crane coming in from my LHS. All I want is some starting point to build the legs. It has to have legs for me. Any ideas?
