I model the Southern Pacific in N scale and am a huge fan of the SP. There any other SP fans and modelers?

    Nope, your the only one.:zip:

Kidding of course. Glad to see young Espee fans. I grew up around the Espee, and model it in N scale. Oregon Division, June, 1967.:teeth:

Yeah, well, there's at least 3 then! I grew up around the SP in Cottage Grove, OR (Siskiyou Line), 20 miles south of Eugene. Working on my model version of the SP's Cascade Route over the mountains in the Oregon Division. 3/17/96 or, if need be — the current date.
    Hey! Its my railroad!

You know... The Hill, Pengra Pass, Willamette Pass, and probably some other "affectionate" names! Also in N scale!

Welcome to the forum, Eric. HAVE FUN!

    Hi,

I am also an Espee fan, living in Europe (Belgium). I appreciate the DRGW / SP merger decade very much.

    I model Nscale :

Hey Erik, maybe you should consider changing the name of the National Railfan Association. The initials NRA might be confused with another much larger and much more controversial, highly funded entity in American politics, The National Rifle Association. :D

That was part of the point. I am a member of both. If you saw the topic on my other forum about the BNSF photo ban you that will show you were I got the inspiration for calling it that.

So you are trying to inspire and organize a movement whose major focus is to shoot BNSF trains?

    Welcome aboard Erik! :D

As you can see, there are many of us SP fans around. I model the SP in N-scale but don't have a layout or pics of any of my work. I also have a large photo roster of locomotives on the net. Check out the link in my sig and enjoy! :D

Carl: Bob Batson of the Texas Central Lines worked on the icing racks in Hearne, Texas (I think). He said it was a very rough job when the reefers were there. Three hundred pound blocks of ice and working as hard as you could to get your cars iced before the train pulled out. Some guys had to jump from the roof as the train was leaving. It was very hectic job. Bob is the only other person I have ever heard say they worked on the icing racks. He is a Baptist preacher in Lubbock, Texas now.

Newbie and going SP or I guess Espee

Hi, I'm just getting started and am thinking to focus on SP. I grew up in CA and my dad worked for SP (tarriffs). I'd really like to focus on the San Francisco terminal as I remember it as a child. Might be a bigger project than I should tackle, but what the heck, I'll take little steps.

Looking forward to following along with the SP forum.

Good attitude. If you're gonna think big (and that is thinking big!), you'd best take little steps. BTW, if you haven't been there in awhile, you wouldn't recognize the place.
