Here's some shots of a flanger clearing snow that I took yesterday while taking a lunch break. They came up through the back yard around noon and were actually clearing more brush and trees than snow.
How much snow is on the ground? Doesn't look like they'd need to clear too much. Or were there some drifts elsewhere along the line? Boxcab E50
Those are wonderful, clear pictures, especially the first one! How do they clear brush and trees? Just break them off? Does it push other trash aside, too? I guess it does.
There really wasn't much snow left - most of it had melted in the past week. Most of the problem was that as it melted, it packed down around the rails and froze again. They have someone operating the blades on either side as they go along and just break off trees, brush, etc. and push other debris off to the side.
