Looks like Kato is going with the model of the month club.... Just saw the next NW2 will be the CB&Q version. You have to scroll all the way to the bottom to get to it. They are doing something other then SF and UP this time...... Personally, I'm still waiting on the Conrail units to come out. http://www.nscalesupply.com/KAT/KAT-Locomotive-NW2.html Brian
Looks pretty nice. Also looks like a head to tail pair might be very popular! Has Kato make twice as many of these?
You read my mind. We have complained that the models from Kato are far and few between... now they are few between and regularly released. This is probably a better way to keep their name in the public eye every month... same as Micro-Trains has done for over 30 years and just as Atlas has been doing for a few years now... except Atlas announces many roads at a time. It's baby-steps for Kato... another one of those paradigm shifts in their U.S. marketing business model.
Well, I'm pretty excited about this one. I've recently started toying with another era, which is looking like 1948-1953 FW&D, leaning toward the late 40's. They had 3 NW2's during that time, and it will only take a renumber and some FW&D sublettering to model one of their NW2's.
Maybe I'll have the money available when the Rio Grande version is released! In either #7000 as delivered, or as renumbered to #100 by the DRGW.
The way these things are gonna sell I hope Digitrax is working on that decoder for 'em. They'll be back ordered till next Christmas. If anyone hears anything let us know.
