Life-Like Boxcar. This is a “toy” boxcar I picked up at a show. I have use it to experiment on with different weathering and upgrades.

Here's my contribution for the week:

These happen to be the older Atlas 1999 run of these Alco RSD4/5s, not the new run that just came out.

Simple weathering with Bragdon Enterprises weathering chalks, and
Pollyscale Grimy Black dry-brushed on the trucks.

:) Have a good week, all!

These munition sheds, behind the locos, were quick and easy projects from my scrap box. The delapitated buildings behind the sheds are from the old layout, and are ready to collapse. Towrd the left is a !-1/2 diameter pVC pipe rapped with paper. At the far left is a building, scratch-build, for an old mine.

Steve, you're supposed to set out the pick-up signal so the engineman knows you wanted to board. :teeth: Very impressive.

For everyone else, my, you fellers can really strut the stuff! That shot with the RS4/5's is totally believable! Didn't I see it in National Geographic back in '51?

Here's another I shot just yesterday. I like to find angles that make my layout seem larger than it is, and this one was particularly tricky. The span you see, bridge, river, and the approach, is part of a 45" X 12" diagonal span crossing the operating pit. Due to its narrow profile, I had to get the camera lens at just the right spot to prevent you from seeing the river-end on the other side of the bridge and make it appear that the river goes on for many miles. Also, the plain spruce timbers at the edge of the pit are just behind the top edges of the coal loads.

    I hope you like it.

I made up some control panels out of .050 alum. and my buddy Pete helped me wire them in this week. The push buttons do not control individual switches. They control routes, push the button for the track you want to get to from the switch lead and all the switches will line correctly. The LED's let you know what track you are lined for. You can throw swithes from your throttle by calling up the switch number and hitting the button or the dispatcher can throw them from the computer.

    Pete,

Great idea! I suggest modeling the great scene with Chief Inspector Clouseau and the lunatic Dreyfus on the bench by the water...

I painted the underframe and trucks with Polly Scale SP gray. Still not close, but better. The plow is painted with ScaleCoatII SP gray, which is a perfect match for the Kato paint, but I didn't want to have to dullcoat the underframe, since the SCII is glossy.

And, am I the only one who thinks that molded-on windshield wipers are one of the most evil inventions in model history?
