Was running the Bnsf 5779 on the lead of train c rwmslp0 72 a on the Wichita Falls subdivsion. Pulling a pretty good grade at mp 73 and when we reach the top of the grade, the bnsf 5779 nuddged and shuttered hard forward and then it died. Had a message saying " Dont restart, Crankcase Overpressure". I never let off the throttle just so I could keep coming over the hill. We then started to smell oil and diesel fuel. My conductor went back and saw fuel all over the firemans walkway and come back to my side and opened a door to find pieces if piston and rod laying there. We dog-legged over to Fruitland siding after speaking to the dispatcher to eventually get another motor from Ft Worth. This newer GE has been in service for a little over a year and only had about 145000 miles on it. here are some pics from my phone. In this one, the big tube is one of the air intakes and if you look closely, you can see antifreeze leaking out of the bottom of it
OOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's going to leave a mark!!!! There's a reason for indicators, to prevent THIS!!!!
