It's really a good idea to do it with all of your hobbies. In my case I use excel to record my inventory of all my hobbies which include trains, music (guitars, bass, amps, effects, drums) as well as my CD collection and my mountain bikes and camera equipment. I use the different pages within the spreadsheet for each hobby. I keep a copy on my computer, a back-up in firesafe as well as a copy at my parents and my wifes parents.
