This weekend will start out busy. We have a few Easter Egg Hunts to attend. Tomorrow we will take in the Phillies – Red Sox game at Citizens Bank Park with my son’s Cub Scout pack. Our home computer is on life support with a bad hard drive so we will be computer shopping. I have some cars to weather and a couple of buildings to weather.
I hope to get a little more decaling done on some engines I am working on for my dad. Try to post some pics later, if you are interested. These are engines for his own railroad.
Tomorrow I plan to fasten a bunch of L brackets to the vertical supports around the helix so I can finally get it strung up to the right height. Depending on how long that takes, I may spend some time with a pen and some templates to lay out where the mainline is going to be on the lower level. Sunday is the last regular SCWD meet for the 06-07 season.
I'll continue to work on the addition to the JJJ&E. Also plan to install some decoders in steam loco's. Stay cool and run steam....
Saturday will be my only full day of layout work until after Easter. I'll preside at four services and assist at four others during Holy Week, beginning Sunday and running through Easter. A busy schedule for me, a minister in the Episcopal Church. I'm retired but not retiring. A joyous Easter to everyone!
Finish some quick framework for one end of the new layout. Hopefully hang a flourescent. Oh, and break in some Kato SD40s.
I just picked up an SD-35 in Conrail paint off ebay for $33. Brand new never run - list for $90 or so, good deal in my book! It is the only modeling I do lately buying for the future layout.
Hope to get track aligned, glued down, and have feed-wires running down from the track by the end of the weekend.
Well, it looks like ^ those ^ plans aren't going to get done this weekend, as I have a funeral to go to. :embarassed:
Mathew, sorry to hear about the bad news. Mr'ing can always wait. Campp, What are those katos like? Is this a new release model? Memster, Is that the Atlas SD35? I've got two of those and just love them. You got a good deal. I'm late with modelling plans. I sat taking a break at work the other day and realized most of my plans are too large. I drew up a simple list: -Put in ties where there are gaps between flex pieces -Put oil on the rail heads so that paint won't stick -Dry brush the rails and ties with KILS -Spray paint rail and ties with dark brown paint It's Saturday already and I have filled some tie gaps. I feel good at having even a little bit of progress so far.
Yes it is an Atlas SD35. One minor issue is the horn is broke. The part is there and I can glue it or buy a new one. I checked the Atlas site, but could not find that part. Any clues what part would work in its place if the gluing fails?
