It's been a losing battle so far. (Or my aging body isnt taking the cold as well since I've been in the south!!) In my defense, the temp has been dropping and the heaters after 3 hrs still only have it around 20 degrees in there. Concrete floor, it dont take long for the toes to get cold!
You need new heaters. Some that work. 6 degrees in 3 hrs. is terrible. If nothing else, look around for mice popsicles. New flavor for cats.
Nope...just two wheel.... The railroad did send the shop truck to pull me out so I can make it to work tomorrow. (Hopefully!)
Jerry, Love this thread, trying to read all the pages in chunks. Nice work! Funny, when I think of Bama, I think of warm weather, not that pic you showed. Oh well, just a few weeks ago it was almost 0 here in central Illinois and 50 in my home state of NH! Hope you get to some layout time. Jim
hi jerry Well i finally got back on trainboard thanks to my labtop that santa gave me! Looks like u have more snow then us up here in kentucky, we only have 4 inches. you should set up your g gauge trains and run them in the snow!! i have a HO loop of track under my xmas tree and have been running my DT&I and I&O engines lately. i got several DT&I cars for my N scale layout as well including an atlas DT&I caboose.:tb-biggrin:
AWWWWWwwwwwwwww...geeeezzzzzzzzzzz.. 14 inches of snow...thats a 'dusting' here...LOL. Last snow here was 27 inches with 3-4 foot drifts! I drive a mini van and used it to snowplow out of my dtrive and half way down the road before I caught the grader coming up the hill and dived in behind him :tb-tongue:.... Yea...yea...I know you guys aint used to the white stuff. I feel for ya...I just cant reach...ROFLMAO!! :tb-biggrin: .
One of these days I am going to put a drop ceiling in there. So many ideas for that building. In the summer I like opening the big door. Will have to lose that with a drop ceiling, so windows.....LARGE windows.....will have to be added. But then...all that wasted space. Could just add bracing and 4X8s on top and a pull down ladder or stairs and have storage on top....or a workbench area. More ideas..... If I sit and think about it too long it can drive a man crazy.....LOL
Fascinating. Snow regardless of depth doesn't scare me, ice on the other hand, well.. It doesn't care if you have station wagon, SUV or a tank. Jim
Thats what we are dealing with right now.....ice. Main roads are OK, secondary roads still closed, and cars all over the driveways on my way to work! I almost didnt make it out again this morning. Then, coming home tonight, I had a heck of a time just getting back in the garage. The icy conditions are really dangerous!
So Jerry...you carrying bags of kitty litter in the back of the truck? Along with a bed full of cinder blocks? .
Yup...I used to line my 2 wheel drive pickup bed with cinder blocks for added weight. Threw about 4 bags of kitty litter on top of the blocks...in case I got stuck anyways. That stuff makes for some good traction when throwen under the wheels. I hear it even makes good ballast on a layout...:tb-wink: .
JD, Here's another idea that I used in the winter with a 2wd, When it snows, fill the bed with snow. It adds lots of weight and when it warms up, it melts, just when you don't need it any more! You're welcome.
