a group of EMD Demonstrators? From left to right: Life Like E8 x 2, Atlas GP7, Life Like SD7 x 2, Atlas SD60 x 2, Life Like SW8, Atlas/Rivarossi TR12, Mehano SD45. Cheers David
Activist! Actively visiting or moving about from one railroad to another to enhance sales of said units by providing live demo's to the various class 1's. Activist. Dave, they look good as they wait for their next assignment. Nice...very nice.
Well thanx Dave. You've saved me from a lot of acquisitions that I don't necessarily NEED. I've always imagined the demos could filter down to a protolanced shortline. A working EMD museum of sorts. ( I realize in reality the real demos usually get painted by whoever ends up with them.) They do look super cool :shade: all together like that. I am a tad envious.
Hhhmmm..... If you run 'em all into each other, you could have a Demo-lition derby:teeth: Sorry, that was bad:embarassed:
A drove of demonstrators, a murder of motors, a drift of diesels, an ensemble of engines, a herd of haulers, a litter of locos, a pride of prototypes, a posse of power and a tribe of traction.
Maybe you could call it someone who can't make up their mind as to what RR to model. Did you ever think of that?
Considering the Rivarossi and Mehano locomotives. how about "junk"? Please don't take offense, I have these locomotives, too. Pardon the modern Atlas stuff, I do not consider them junk.
I'd call it an Open House. Complete with an EMD Plant tour. In the parking lot, a complete set of GM vehicles, from GMC to Cadillac to Chevy to Saturn. (IIRC in the 1960's the LaGrange plant would be open for plant tours. GM used the event to showcase new models) The last eventmay have been 1989's 50th anniversary of the FT. Shortly after that, most of the plant closed. I still have a coin made in the shop from valve metal.
Actually I have considered painting one of my 5 non-working DD40s as a demonstrator. In that era it would have been dark blue and white, similar to the SD45. Cheers David
