Jason: Looking forward to those pictures and any of the big equipment up there. As far as more axles, it seems to me to reduce weight per axle, too. I know you could carry more, but there might be some advantage for road ability, too. Is there some type of government mandate?
More axles (and more tyres) result in lower stresses being placed on the pavement - hence you can then have thinner pavements (for the same design life) or pavements that will last longer (for the same thickness). There are government standards, but I don't have any info handy at the moment.
