Intermountain announced overnight that the new GREEN Saskatchewan Grain Cars are coming in November/December. Six road numbers each should be the norm for these.

Bad news for me on the rainbow car - I've got five sets of hopper kits, decals, and paint to do those and sell on ebay. So much for that plan :)

I don't care if it is "fake". I do not even know what the real # is, so I can't tell the difference. Its alot less to pay than to try to get an original PWRS one for $500. If it does bug me at a later date, I will renumber it, all for alot cheaper than a rare you wouldn't want to run in the first place.

Nice! PWRS's stock just hit the bottom. :) Really though, this is a bunch of great looking cars from Intermountain, at a price everyone can enjoy.

I wonder what people think of me running 10 Atlas CP Pack Man box cars all with the same number in the same unit train.

I def can see 3 of the rainboas and 3 or the Sask. Maybe couple more of the Pac Mans.

just making sure you realize that they are ...

Personally I couldn't care less if there was only 1 real one ... or if these are not it.

what's all this negativity towards PWRS?

They have helped me find some odd stuff that I thought that I had missed out on numerous times ...

they are alright in my book

It certainly was not my intention to infer any negativity towards PWRS. I have bought many items from them and have been very satisfied with my dealings with PWRS. I have met their principals in person and have found them to be very decent people.

I have edited my earlier post in this thread to delete any comment about PWRS.

Why are people so mad at PWRS. Someone tell me one good reason (more if there is any) what is wrong with them. I know somebody already wondered why this thread, but geez, every thread that has something mentioned in the slightest about PWRS, people start putting them down or complaining about them. I know if we said something like that about one of the dealers here the person would get banned. I know for a fact that at least 2 of the staff of PWRS are members here, and I'm sure it doesn't make them feel all nice inside about whats said.

Theyre mad because they want PWRS to charge less for the stuff, and Dan won't do it. You want a deal? Go to ebay, at Dans place, he, like everyone else with a storefront, has to pay the bills. So they whine and gripe and pxxx and moan about it, but in the end, if you want them Sask cars, you'll be knocking on Danny's door..I get the feeling Intermountains mouth went off too soon.....

    CN 370708 Cylindrical Hopper

The one and only prototype Canadian National Cylindrical Hopper/Rainbow Car, was #370708, which as stated in the IM ad, is not included in this run.

The prototype car was used to test paint colors, and how well they held up to the elements.

Gents, enough reference to PWRS and their operating or pricing policies.
If anyone wants to continue any discussion outside of the original post's purpose, take it offline please.

Buzz, thanks for filling us in. I should have looked that up. In any case, I have heard from managment on the GandG and she (Rrrr) has made it clear there will be at least 3 of them on the layout.
    Yes dear. "As you wish"

No, it wasn't. It was to advertise the loads the cars carry. Plastic pellets. Thats what the formula is on the side. And the colors are to illustrate the different colors of plastic...sigh...makes no sense to release this car in different road numbers, but then again, thats IM for ya...

Was this the only prototype covered hopper painted in this rainbow type color? Were any centerflows painted like that? Similarly? Thanks.

    Flash:

In everything I have read this was a one-of-a-kind car. Demand apparently has been very high for more of them.
As with the 'Continent' car, people have asked for more and most modelers do not care how many road numbers there were.

When done as a special run some "rainbow" or 'life-saver' cars were done with the stripes on both sides of the car. I have one. It was not correct either. But, it looks good.

I will say this about the PWRS Lifesaver car. They haven't drove the price up. People who want it and bid very high on Ebay have. No car is worth more than you are willing to pay for it. I for one am ordering all 6 and also all of those Saskatchewan cars too. I said I would if they made em cause they look neat. It doesn't bother me that the Lifesaver cars are not the prototypical number I just like the looks of the car and I can get 6 of them for list price.
