According to the manual, programming CV125 to 1 restores all CV's to default settings. But the default value for CV125 is listed as 0. Is this confusing to anyone but me?

    Ben,

Usually 0 = off and 1 = on. So the default of 0 (off) means the decoder sees the CV as off. By setting the CV to 1 (on) the decoder reads the CV as on and resets to the default settings.

    Hope that helps.

CV 125 set to 1 turns all CV values to the default values.

I had set CV125 to 1 and most CV's responded. Should I now set CV125 to 0, or did resetting to value 1 automatically do that?

You don't have to reset the CV 125 value to zero. It happens.

Thanks. The reason I had to reset to factory defaults was that the loco acted strangely after I listened to all of the whistle types. It acts OK now after the reset.

Athearn replaced the motor and circuit board under warranty and it was running fine until I went through the 14 whistle types. I think I will not do any more experimenting with the CV's.

I had similar problems when I decided to listen to the 14 whistles. Now I leave it on the factory default whistle.
