They call them Speedeez! 5 bucks U.S. for 10 cars! Too cartoonish? Not after some real quick mods, and touch-up... All I did was remove the unprototypical 'skirting/body kit',shave the undercarriage to match, and painted mirrors silver, underbody flat black, and glued the wheel assy back under. They all need new wheels/tires also, unless they like 'wheeling on slicks! More pics in Rail Images! Here's a shot of the slammed (box stock) Ford Explorer/Expedition versus the homebrew modded Jeep Grand Cherokee: Also, a shot of a few of my new off-roaders about to get thir trucks dirty! *mud coming soon*
That's a good $ deal! Are these actually 1:160? Do they have anything from an "older" era? Such as the 1950's? 1960's? Boxcab E50
They have classic Hot rods, and muscle cars... Viper, Charger, Camaro, Mustang, AMX? Station wagon Tri-5 Chevy, T-bucket, slammed fat-fendered truck. Typical hamburger stand cruise-in cars.
Don't forget the LAPD vehicles including an armoured car! Good start for some police vehicles. Also I found some small sets of Micro Machines that included a great garbage truck. Was wondering though if anyone knows how the Speedeez vehicles compare in size to the Atlas Ford F150 pickups and other vehicles already available? Close enough in scale? Without the two side by side they appeared to be pretty close.
Cool! That's my era! I grew up in those days! So are these close enough to 1:160, that they'll fit right in? Boxcab E50
Got me some of them there Speedeez, as well as some MicroMachines and some of the Hotwheel whatever minies. Got a couple hella cool fire trucks outa the deal plus all the cool 4x4 vehicles. Then went and compared to the N-scale stuff at the local hobby shop. Looks pretty good. Close enough for gov't work. With all these "toy" vehicles available for hella cheap you could really populate your layout with a great selection at a low price.
Boxcab, I would say 1/144-1/150 scale. Close enough, especially with some extra details. The trucks more so than the cars, but the muscle cars are somewhat larger in real life, (like the '69 Dodge Charger) so it should work for you!
Even if the scale is a bit off, their placement on the layout with some intentional forced perspective might make it work... Have them in places that they'd be in the foreground, and simply appear slightly larger than they'd normally be.
my only problem with these cars and trucks is that my son has them all and i have to steal them when he isn't looking to take them to shows for the modules hoping his mom doesn't bring him to where he will find them, and oh yes i also lost all my own micro machines to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
