Hear anything about Deluxe Innovations's Roadrailers? I read somewhere that you only get one Coupler Mate when you buy the ten pack? Would that make sense or maybe I am not sure what the Coupler Mate is. Does anybody have a great photo of a Roadrailer and Coupler Mate?
The railers are to be available for the San Jose show (they hope). I have some good shots of Swift railers in Devore. The are on my second web site home.earthlink.net/~hdriley Can't remember on which page. ------------------ Keep on Track'N Harold Riley www.phcomputing.com
i talked with deluxe today and they said hopefully by the end of july or middle of august release of ns . then it will be amtrak, and hopefully then the bnsf. i cant wait for them. but i assure everyone that my check book surely can. have a good one. ------------------ bnfan99
I saw them at Fullerton RR days last month and can say they look GREAT, and from what I saw, they ran well also. ------------------ Craig Martyn BLMA(best looking models around) Custom painting and detailing **Soon to come, N scale detail parts!!!
The Coupler Mate is the first 'car' in the train (rack?) and is there to couple to the engine/s or other cars using the knuckle coupling. George and the team at deLuxe have invested a lot of time in getting these to run to their satisfaction. This has caused a delay in their release but, being modellers themeselves, if they weren't happy with the operation they figured the paying public wouldn't be happy either. i cant wait til they come out but i dont know what the big problem was as i have built a ns criple crown using atlas trailers and m/t trailers and microtrains trucks with homemade connectors between the trailers and trucks and have not had a bit of problem with them as long as the trackwork is in good condition. also there is absolutely no weight in them yet. you can ask bnfan and maxwell plant and i guess also royal blue how they run, no problems except the occassional 5 yr old with wandering finners. the only bad thing is that microscale does only one style decals for nscale when they do all 3 schemes in ho.even got a cool fred built in on the rear end. mine cost a total of about 6.50 per car to build and i haven't heard exactly what the deluxe ones will be. ------------------ Norfolk Southern The Pack Mule of Transportation Mo-Pac RULES Heritage N-Scale Group, Joliet, Il.
yes i do, but until my wife lets me get a scanner or a digicam i cant get them on here. ------------------ Norfolk Southern The Pack Mule of Transportation Mo-Pac RULES Heritage N-Scale Group, Joliet, Il.
Does "Bacon" have Triple Crown Road-Railers? OHHHHH YEAHHHH! Do they run nice? OHHHHH YEAHHHH! Hey "Bacon", are you going to have your set with you this weekend at Galesburg? If you do, come run them on NTBN if you get a chance. I want to be sure my new track work is up too snuff and I love seeing them lean through my super-elevated corners! Does any one have an exact date for the road railers? I guess I could write Craig at Deluxe another letter, but if some one knows, it will save me time. Thanks ------------------ Craig Martyn BLMA(best looking models around) Custom painting and detailing AND N scale detail parts!!!

You mean someone is doing roadrailers. Hmmm, who woulda thought. I guess I will have to be more on the ball. Oh well nscalers generally don't know when things are coming out in advance. Thats the good thing about this hobby. And no one could homebuild them, so don't pull this stunt. Who is delux anyway, I only deal with Con-Cor and Bachmann. Those are the two leading n scale manufacturers since I got into the supply market. ------------------ n scale for life. can you smell what the n scalers are doin now?
what ok your right dude if you say so. whatever man. ------------------ Norfolk Southern The Pack Mule of Transportation Mo-Pac RULES Heritage N-Scale Group, Joliet, Il.
Trekkie, Con-Cor & Bachmann? What about Micro-Train, Atlas, Red Caboose and others? Deluxe has excellent Gunderson Twin-Stacks. ------------------ Keep on Track'N Harold Riley www.phcomputing.com [This message has been edited by sd75mac (edited 23 June 2000).]

Hey Guys, Let's slow down on the sarcastic replies please. All of us started somewhere, and I know for a fact that I started with Spectrum SD 40-2's. Two reasons I'll give you: they're cheap, which dovetails nicely with my available cash flow (after all the distractions like mortgage, car payment, insurance, food, etc); and, at the time, they were the only 40-2's on the market. I will say I've since learned better, and now have a number of Atlas and Kato engines. To really get a feel for what's available, pick up a copy of Walthers catalog, even if it's last years issue. Looking through this can (a) make you feel like a kid with the Wish Book again and (b) give you a real good idea of what's out there for the getting. Most of all, let's remember that as long as we're having fun, it's "all good." Jenks - the REAL big blue!!!
RIGHT ON!! As far as rolling stock goes, Concor and Bachmann are OK for inexpensive items. They do not have the quality of the other brands such as Micro Trains, Deluxe, etc. I have a few ConCor cars with factory trucks and couplers. I will try to convert these to MT. I have a few left over Bachmann cars from a start set I gave my son a few years ago. For myself, I would not purchase Bachmann cars unless it was an exceptional value. But like Eagle said, the bottom line is to have fun. Some of us (myself included) expect high quality operations from our model equipment. Others are happy with the less expensive and lower quality items. That does not make it wrong. I prefer Kato and Atlas for engines and MT and Deluxe for rolling stock. I also have rolling stock from Walthers, Red Caboose, Intermountain and ConCor. MT is the best but wow is it pricey. Matt
Of the Bachmann rollingstock, take a look at the 4-bay ACF hopper and 40' Hi-cube boxcars. These are nice and should be had a great prices with a bit of shopping. As for Con-Cor, I have to admit to being most disappointed with most of their offerings. The autoracks and (rare) 60' TOFC flats are two exceptions in the rollingstock line. When on photo trips to Kingman AZ, I usually stop in at the Power House, which has a train store. I am not a C-C person, but the selection of C-C and price at the Power House, works for me. I have some autoracks, 89' flats and a couple of hoppers from CC. ------------------ Keep on Track'N Harold Riley www.phcomputing.com
