Does anyone know of a site that has a list of SP C44-9s that have been patched into UP? I'd like to do a couple from the new Kato run but would like to do them correctly.

Between the rrpic link above (THANKS!) and Scotts list of road numbers I got some great shots to document and work from.

In reference to that new Kato run of SP C44-9's, the photo's would lead one to believe that Kato actually painted the trucks, handrails and fuel tanks to match the body. It appears they failed to paint the safety handrails at the steps but even without that, this would be a big step for Kato. But did they really do it?

Patched from UP is not what I want to do.

I want to get several additional units to patch into UP.

Trucks, handrails and tanks match the body paint.

    :D :D :D :D

Actually, I have a future project for two Bachman SD40-2s. I'm gonna speedletter and detail one as a SD40M-2 patched for UP and the second will get full UP. Already have one as SP speedlettered. Yes, they are Bachman but they run great and with some other work...

Oh and for you rivit counters, yes I know these are incorrect for SD40-2Ms too. Actually they come real close to a small series SP had.

That is cool if they are actually matching everything now!

The KATO C44-9W's in SP are not completely correct for SP (at least the original run) But I bought a couple anyway back when they were first issued. From memory, the nose hand rails were supposed to be two separate pieces rather than one L-shaped piece, the roof should have a conicle shaped antenae, the trucks on the model ar the early type and SP had a later style. The KATO C44-9W was copied from an early model made for the C&NW and some early Santa Fe units are close to the model too.

I wonder if the new issue are the same thing or if they are closer to the real SP engines.

    Jim:

The SP C44-9Ws delivered by Kato during the last month are as accurate as Kato could make them and have new tooling.
