I was just talking to another fellow TrainBoard participant and Jim brought to my attention that PowerSteamGuy has on his profile "Permanently Dispatched" with his name in pink letters and the light is out. If this means what I fear it does then we've lost a dear and good friend. I do hope his blogs can be saved and the great advice given retained for all of us that participate here. His opinions and thoughts and the time he took to put them here are something I value highly. If I'm in error about this please accept my apologies in advance. Rick Howland
There's no need for a public issue over this. Sometimes when people don't agree they part company. That's the case here. Charlie
Not one to merely stick my head in the sand, maybe I was thinking what Rick may have been thinking. "Permanently Dispatched" sounds dire. Ben
Have We Lost A Good Friend? no Hmm, A nice way of saying, He Took His Ball & He's Going Home. he has been seen posting elsewhere since he left TB: http://z11.invisionfree.com/N_Scale_Talk/index.php?showtopic=274
I hate to sound like a broken record but: Bob resigned from Trainboard. He deleted his blog and Railimages albums prior to resigning. That's it. No further comment is forthcoming.
Firstly let me catch my breath because I'm still recovering form the first post. Pete, with all due respect we are supposed to be like family here, in fact I regard each and every member as a brother or sister as the case might be. Now in a family if a member has left home temporarily or permanently for whatever reason don't the rest of us deserve an explanation of some sort. All the previous post before yours the guys are simply saying that they are going to miss PSG and his knowledge only to be hit with a comment such as yours. If we were talking about you not being here anymore I'd feel the same as I do now. You need to understand that there are younger MRRs (not by age alone but also by experience) here on this forum that look up to you, the rest of the administrators and the more experienced members here as the big brother we never had so to be hit with the replies as we've been getting is hard to swallow my friend. verse
Many times people come and go for various reasons...some quit their job, some quit the church they attend, some quit this hobby. Various reasons can bring this about. Sometimes the reasons for "why" are best not shared or their is no benefit for sharing the reason. Sometimes it is best to accept what has happened and move on.
I hadnt planned to add to this thread, but maybe someone should say it. This is apparently a "personal" matter, and a personal choice. I like him too, and I like this board. But, for whatever reason (no, I do not know just as none of us do) he separated himself from here. It is none of my business why, nor anyone elses that does not know. I assume whomever that it is their business, already knows as to why. I think we should not let this blow out of porportion, and let this thread go by the wayside before people's feelings get hurt for no reason. If I see him on other boards, I will enjoy him there, as well as enjoy this board with or without him. If I ever see him back here, I will welcome him back with my open arms. Regardless, at this point, it is none of my business as to reasons, nor will I ask. Just my 2 cents.
I agree. Sometimes people who are extremely creative and highly talented have difficulty working in a large group of likeminded people. Things come up and they decide to move on. But I sure wish he had not burned all his bridges and that he had left in place the information he no doubt spent a lot of time posting.
Him leav'in ain't half as bad as me stay'in. You'll never get rid of me! (I wish he was still here..)
Admins Many people here will consider Bob's leaving as a loss. This thread is a normal part of the grieving process. As long as it stays polite I would not hinder it.
Ben and all tuned in, I was indeed afraid we had lost him in a more dire way and was shocked to find his threads marked as "Permanently Dispatched". I'm not interested in writing an early obituary. I wrote to many of those while wearing the Funeral Directors hat. Whatever the reason he choose to move, is none of my buisness. I understand privacy issues. I will miss him and the intra communication. He seemed like a guy that was open to discussing various aspects of a project pro and con. Willing to agree to disagree or so it seemed. Bob, I wish you the best.
Yep, its nice to know he is alive and well in Jupiter. I've got to quit looking up words in the dictionary and consult the TB glossary instead. But now who am I going to spar with? Ben
