Well I was just watching Goldeneye, I turned the movie on right at the train escape scene. I was wondering if the train was real or not. I did a quick google search and found out that this train was not Russian but a British Loco. It happens to be a British Rail Class 20 (aka English Electric Type 1) that had armor installed to make it look russian. Is there any company out there that makes this Loco, second anyone have any ideas how to model this train? I just think it would be cool to have one of these trains. Do you think any other loco could be used, or even just use a base and make the shell myself. Any input would be great, Im looking for a side project since I have gotten a little bored working on my layout and not ready to move to N scale yet. Here is the only decent pic I have found. Here is also a link to an article on the Class 20: http://www.answers.com/topic/british-rail-class-20
I don't know about the length, but it would seem any diesel switcher could furnish the cab part, although I think the German engine was a steamer. Even then, the body could easily be fabricated much like they did for the movie. Use sheet stock to make the slab sides and top, and balsa wood or hard foam to form the nose pieces. A bit of rivet work, a bit of putty, and some paint. Check out paint colors for model tanks and airplanes as well as decals. Show us photos as you progress. OK? You can do it, and it would be an exciting project too! By the way, Welcome to TrainBoard mjdx88!
Im not familiar with the different model Engines what would be one of the longer switchers that looks like an MP 15 ? I figure I will use what ever that engine is and go from there. I believe there are 2 or 3 passengers cars as well I think i could use any pullman car, that would do the trick I just need to add some bars for armor. BTW this is the engine Im looking for if anyone would like to make a donation to this project LOL =P http://cgi.ebay.com/Bachmann-OO-CLA...32289824QQihZ003QQcategoryZ4978QQcmdZViewItem
Goldeneye A couple of side photos would help. Just as in the above reply sheet styrene and some bondo could be the body parts. The chassis could be either steam or diesel but looking at it diesel eould be the better choice. Strange looking machine.
