I finally broke down and bought a cheap [really cheap, 8 bucks] air brush. I am now looking into getting a very quiet compressor if one exists.
It only needs to be between 15 and 35 PSI.
I know nothing about this so all help is appreciated.

Thanks for all your help ahead of time. :)

I did the same thing, Stephen. About a month I went to Princess Auto and bought a cheap one (about $25 or so) but my compressor is anything but quiet. It's a small pancake style compressor made by Porter Cable that I used to use at work. I decided to bring it home for the odd airbrushing job and blowing up the kids' swimming pool. Works good but not very quiet, but then, I'm used to all that niose. I have three boys running around and wrecking my house so the compressor helps (but not completely) drown them out.

It may not be the one you're looking for for you may find it's cheaper, I don't know. I've always had compressors kicking around so I never had to go out and price the "real" airbrush compressors.

Thanks a lot Flash. I found it was mostly about tank size really. It was informative though and I thank you for helping. :)

I am hoping someone has a VERY quiet one and can tell me what it is. if such a thing even exists.

I was thinking of hooking up a fish tank pump to a bottle of some sort that could hold about 20 PSI and then regulate it that way.

Not sure how well that would work though.
Anyone have the explosion specs on plastic Pepsi bottles? LOL :D

Be sure to get one with a reserve tank.
I have a small 6-8 gallon tank, the compresor fills it up once and I can paint for quite some time on one charge.
You might check Harbor Freight, or you local thrift ads in the newspaper.I have an old 4 cylinder Montgomery Ward model I picked up for next to nothing.
Looks like Hell but boy does it work.Make sure you put a good pressure regulator and moisture trap on whatever you get.

Tom, I don't think harbor freight is here in Canada, but thanks just the same for the tip. Hopefully someone else here can use it. :)
