Lets try this again...I really hadn't noticed how out of focus the pics were that I posted last week of my new farm supply company. Sorry about that. I'm much better with a 35mm SLR than with this new digital camera. I put the building on the layout for these photos. I still have to attach it and scenic the area around it, but this will be its permanent location. I think these pics are a little better so I thought I'd post these. Besides..I didn't get anything else done since then that I could post pics of.

It's early in the weekend here. I am going to post Al Boos' scratch built water tank again. It is H0 scale for the Narrow Gauge convention. Brief discussion here.

The fleet's in. This is an oldie. Here you see, from foreground to background, a 137-foot wooden-hulled minesweeper, a 240-foot subchaser, a 343-foot Benson-class destroyer, and a T-2 tanker.

The grade is about 2.75 percent here, as our F-3s climb behind the Gulf oil tanks. These are the ships I landed on when I fell. They are mostly put back together! I've got to repaint the minesweeper, though I hate to do it because it was the very first time I got a sweetly defined line between hull and deck!

Got some paint details done on Kato N scale Santa Fe
C44-9Ws. Added yellow handrails, red anticlimber, red
walkways, black paint in the nose door window, and some
    light weathering:

Still trying to figure out the manual focus on my Sony
DSC-H2, in order to use Helicon! No time to futz around
with it. Oh well, maybe next week.

See some of you in Hartford next week! I'll be there for the
Saturday night banquet and Sunday morning breakfast. :)

While volunteering at the Montana State Fair with the Great Falls Model RR Club/Montana Museum of RR History, I ran trains all day long. Here's a few of my shots on the 3x6' N layout! Hey, it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it!

The headend of a long manifest coasts to a stop anticipating a crew change at the shack:

Here's what 4% grades look like, at the lead 2 locos are back on level track, the brutal grade looks the part:

As a coal drag grinds slowly up the 4% grade, a pedestrian impatiently waits for the train to clear:
I can almost hear his toes tapping the gravel!

A GP35 lends restraining muscles with its dynamic brakes to hold the train at a steady 10 MPH on the 4% downgrade:

    Pacific Steer Railroad 50th Anniversary

A few years ago, the Pacific Steer Railroad celebrated the company fiftieth anniversary. It was intended to paint one of the SD9's in new livery, but budgetary constraints arose and this was not possible. Instead, it was decided to paint the company flagship, a 50 foot stock car. Here is the result:

Interestingly, I discovered this technique of using double decals to create some lettering variation:

Two more stock cars in standard paint:

[edit] I would like to thank BNSF7173 for his painting technique of using paint-thinner 50-50 Pollyscale flat clear as a final coat. It really blends the decals and paint.

Great shots as always, everyone. Flash, nice idea on the shadows for the lettering.

Since yesterday, I got some time to futz around with manual focus and Helicon.

An improvement over my previous photos (although
I forgot to light the headlights).

    Have a good week!

    Geez Flash, like the shadowing.

Al Boos seemed like an innovative guy at the LSR Convention when I heard him talk.

Russ, is that one of the MoP engines in that shot? :)

Hemi, nice shots on a small pike.

    Mike, that layout's insane!?!?!

Modified a Walters pulprack to better match those on the BAR.
Ground the deck overhang back flush with the deck and made a side frame out of .015 styrene. Glued it to the frame and made side states out of .040 sqaure styrene.
