Does anyone know of a source for 28' smooth-side containers? I have a bunch of the old Alan Curtis 28' container chassis with no "boxes" for them and would love to paint them in certain light-grey with brown logo paint scheme, anyone know of any 28'ers?
    thanks,

I don't think I ever saw any 28 footers in N Scale. Walthers did some in HO.

Athearn "pup" trailers I believe are 28'. If money is no object you could convert them to containers.

If money is the object, there is an eBay seller, Franco I think, who sells 40' undec containers in lots of 10. Possibly they could be bashed down to 28'.

While the Athearn Pup trailers are indeed 28', the other demensions are not square so they are impossible to convert. Cutting down a longer container, like a 40ft high cube or a 48ft domestic container would work and isn't that hard, especially if you are going to repaint it anyway. Alan Curtis produced 28ft containers too, but I'm not sure if whoever bought his line is continuing them. However, you may find someone willing to part with them. Good luck.

Dumb question, but aren't the only 28' containers used in real life used by UPS?

    There's a big difference between a 28' container and a 28' container chassis. The 28' chassis is made to hold a 20' container, not a 28.

    Let me clarify.

I tried to look this up on N scale kits, but there are no pics. The 20' container chassis is actually longer than 20ft, but are designed to hold a 20ft container.

There may be 28' chassis designed for 28' trailers, but the only company I can think of that uses this setup is UPS.

Hey Ryan, yes I do believe that UPS is the only user and I'm trying to model a UPS train, I have the chassis' I picked up years ago by mistake (thought I was getting 20') but these can NOT be used on 20' containers as they have only a pair of wheels rather than 4 wheels on a 20' container chassis, these are designed for lighter loads. Nscalekits has NOT continued the Alan Curtis 28' containers. The 40 or 45 cut down is a good option I had not thought of,
    thanks everyone!

Container chassis from N Scale Kits - but no containers

Jan is right - we have no plans to run the container lines in resin as we thought that there was no demand. Are we wrong?

If you have photos of the 20', 28' and larger container chassis with loads we would be happy to put them up on the site as examples, with credits of course.
