Joe, its going to come to a halt pretty soon. Its too hot to work in the garage in the summer in South Florida. Its like working on a steam sauna. David, another great video.

ZoCal did a one day show in Alhambra on April 30th, 2011. Well, we were the only layout there actually. So I shot some video and took some pictures and... Made another movie! I do apologize for the lower quality video and lighting - but this was all done on an Android phone. http://vimeo.com/23129335
See Lajos's little engine... well...uh try to run. See a RDC pull some UP passenger cars. A warm up to the real video from the Ontario BTS show. Used my phone again for this part. http://vimeo.com/24149593
Cuyahoga goes modern We were exhibiting our 'Cuyahoga' Nickel Plate Road layout at Stevenston in Scotland last weekend. The show was organised by the Kyle Model Railway Club who turned out to be a real friendly bunch as did everybody else we met in Ayrshire. We had a really good response from the public as Z layouts are really rare in Scotland and we opened a few eyes with the flawless running of the modern rolling stock made by AZL and MTL. Shame I can't say the same about some of the Marklin engines we have! Early Sunday morning the show was fairly quiet so I took the opportunity to give some of the stock we are acquiring for our forthcoming 'Shasta' layout a test , including the Alan Curtis 89 footers and the Robert Ray centrebeams, under show conditions. video is here at http://youtu.be/IxK2kCyJPf0 after the positive comments I got on my 'Cuyahoga' How-to videos I'll post stuff on youtube as the layout develops Cheers KEV
Part 1 of Ontario BTS 2011. See crossovers actually work. See the Lajo's engine module pull eight small tankers. See in Part 2 all 21 modules. Getting ready for NTS! http://vimeo.com/24249263
Great. Also nice crossings. A question: Is Peter Wright still producing turnouts and crossings today/now? My experience for some years ago was that it could take some time to get in contact with him using email. What's the best adresse to use these days? I would love to order some items from him. They are great and I will use some of my old Wright turnouts on my new layout, but need some more. I would love to see this big layout on NTS.
John Duino had the crossovers built. I think that was a one time thing - not sure. I think he still makes the turnouts - it just takes months for the whole process. ZoCal has been usng the Fasttracks turnouts lately. I am going to remove the MTL turnouts of my straight module and replace them with the Rokuhan turnouts. We have used them in our last show at BTS and they worked flawlessly. We have noticed that the MTL turnouts don't like some engines. Or maybe I just need to tune them better. And we are looking at 40+ modules for NTS. And if everything works out allright, there is going to be "One Big Honking Yard" that will be about 25' long, 3' wide and have 90 turnouts! It's the shortage of turnouts that is messing up our plans - maybe. We are checking with Intermountain about some Rokuhan turnouts.
Svein-Martin, no one has heard from Peter in many months, but that is no different than several other custom Z suppliers. His manufacuturing method only produces about 10 turnouts per mold and then he has to make another master. So sometimes he feels overwhelmed. This is done in his kitchen area. He has health problems too so there sometimes are long periods of time. The good thing is that he does not even ask for your money until he has actually shipped it to you. .
Thank you Jeff. This is more or less what I was thinking was the situation now. I have seen the plans, look great. Why not use Märklin turnouts if the preferred is difficult to find. Look forward to see you all and the layout on NTS.
