Actually I think Rob meant....."It's not right.......that I am not over here running trains with you guys" That makes just as much sense.
What did Rob say? Check it out yourself.:tb-biggrin:
See the switching of some hoppers and a boxcar with my SW1. It is still in primer, awaiting its final paint. I did not (yet) build in lights but added some lead under the hood.
Rancho Bernardo 2011 with ZoCal part 1 is up:
We had a good weekend at Leyland Model railway exhibition ast week when we took 'Cuyahoga' along. It started well when a parcel from my folks in California turned up ten minutes before we left for the show with two of the SD70Ms I am acquiring for our next project in itas well as a whole heap of Randy Brown trucks and trailers. The show was quite busy which is good news for the hobby and the impeccable running of the AZL and MTL locos really impressed the visitors, even the Marklin Steam engines behaved themselves all day! We took the opportunity on Sunday morning to run the layout 'modern image' with a lot of the locos and stock intended for 'Shasta' and then timewarped it back to the 50's at lunchtime and ran it Nickel Plate till the show closed. Th new military train got a good testing as did the scratchbuilt NKP Berkshire which I wanted to give a good work out to before I start applying all the fine detailing. Video part one is Cuyahoga running 1950/60s style Nickel Plate video part two is the modern U.P running(sub titled 'the Borg' have landed!) The layout was designed from the outset to take the Alan Cutis 89 footers and the TTAX 5 unit spine cars. The inner curve on the mainlines dips down to about 12" radius at its tightest point. The area where I anticipated trouble was the S curves over the Marklin points in the hidden sidings but they just glide through without any problems. They also run quite happily though the Peter Wright turnouts at the front. The main thing I have found is a smooth running loco on the point, a jerky Marklin F7 gives them all sort of problems whereas an MTL or AZL diesel will run them happily all weekend long. The next test is putting all the semi-trailers on and hope it doesn't become too heavy to pull! I have been building the first two boards for Shasta this weekend and have started to draw the trackplan for 'Cantara Loop' on the end of board 'A'. It looks like the minimum radius there wuill be 11 1/2 inches with some degree of superelevation factored in. I really want to see the trains lean into the curves on this one. KEV
I am trying to upgrade my video software. I had to uninstall the previous version and the new software will not install. I am working through the company to remedy this. I have more NTS and Rancho Bernardo video. I am getting some new rolling stock I want to show off (hopefully more sound equipped locos - can you say "UP Veranda Gas Turbine" Mike?). I have added more scenery to my yard module. In December, the BFY will be at the GTE San Diego show and I will definitely get more video of that. So don't give up on me for videos yet. I will return (somebody famous said that too).
Here a new video of my Bahnbetriebswerk Hamburg-Altona in Z Rainer
Nice model, I really liked the double turntable and the enginehouse. Question: What type of turnouts are you using?
Hi Svein Rainer use only "selfmade" turnouts and tracks. He mills the stuff with his own milling machine.
OK, nice work. I understand that he has some good equipment to work with, specially when I saw the different versions of the double turntables. Great!!
Been a while but here we go... New camera, computer (faster) and video software. The Anaheim Great Train Expo from January 2012. See the BFY (Big Freight Yard) in action. 26 modules including two new 26 degree bend modules - adds some flexibility to the layout design.
