Newest Just bought a P2K E-9 in CB&Q to pull my BLI California Zephyr. With the E-9 I have locomotives from all three roads the real train ran on.
off color it's yellow is orangy yellow and it's green is too bright. The first pic is a more accurate paint and the second is the off color one
My newest is Atlas' VIRGINIAN Trainmaster. This sucker will pull the white off of rice. I purchased #71 at the Great Scale Model Train show in Timonium, Md two weeks ago:
that's nice Thats wicked nice. But from the only pictures i've don't some trainmasters have a 2 beam headlight underneth the regular? kinda like SP 4449?
Well, #114 had the "big" headlight. Of course, the photo below is the cab-forward end. Can't say for sure about "71. I will have to check my book. As I recall reading, VIRGINIAN purchased about 4 or 5 runs of these things. You could be right. Out of curiosity, I will have to look into the other purchases.
New locos I am partial to Train Masters. Before Atlas came out with them (including the H16-44's), I used Athearns and Bachmanns, beefing up the TrainMasters with NWSL motors and "tweaking" the others. I still get a kick out of seeing any 3 of them at work on a long freight. The line also rosters Walthers H10-44's and P1K Erie-Builts. The hardest pullers in my fleet are the P1K CF16's. Don't get to close to the tracks or your eyebrows will come up missing! The Athearns are getting old but for now, they're still holding their own. When the time comes, they'll be replaced probably by the newer and more powerful Atlas locos.
my freind wanted a close up of the train so he put his face just befor the tracks and he got a little to close the train hit him in the nose and in the face it was the acela full speed he wanted to see it run at speed the train did not derail but it was funny
Your friend got to be the "giant for the day" but paid for it with a whomp on the snozzola. Imagine telling someone that you got bonked by a model Acela at speed!
