A company called the Q Connection is going to produce, in resin, SAL, scl,sdb etc. Whalebelly cars. These cars were originally purchased by the Seaboard, CB&Q and an independent cement company. The cars are being produced by WrightTRAK for the Q Connection so you know that they will be of the highest quality possible. Please go to http://www.qconnection.biz/ to find out more about this project. You can contact Q Connection at Dave_Lotz@BellSouth.net to place your reservation or get more information on this project. We also need to convince Broadway Limited to do their N&W CF caboose in SAL paint. This project is apparently on the verge of being cancelled and we need to prevent this from happening. The SAL purchased some of these cabeese from the N&W and they provided the SAL with several years of service. Please take a moment to email Broadway Limited at service@precisioncraftmodels.com and urge them to consider a SAL decorated caboose. Regards, Denis F Blake
Denis - Thanks for the "heads-up" on the SAL models. I have sent an e-mail to BLI and hope that we get a favorable response. I was not aware that SAL had ex-N&W cars, do you happen to have their class or number series handy? I can also see using at least one "whale belly" in through freights along with the "center flows" from Atlas. Don't have a user industry for those types on my layout.
SAL ex N&W CF cabs Dave That information is downstairs and I will post it tomorrow. Here are shots of the 5505 and the 5509 to prove my point. There were 10 or so of these so I would think that they were numberd 5500 to 5509 or something very close. Denis
Denis - Thanks for the photos, first I have of a 5500 series car. Apparently they were off roster by 1963, but I'll take a couple of anything painted/lettered Seaboard. Again, thanks for the photos.
