...some Tenax-7R and some paint and decals (...and brass wire) IC SD70 #1007 and #1012 ...yes, #1039 is still on the workbench
I can see another neat project to go on the "I won't get this done ever, but I'll put it on the list anyway" list. GREAT WORK AS USUAL!!! :tb-tongue::tb-wink:
ooohhhh..... can you say NS??? the thoroughbread has similar sd70's (spartan cab??) i wanna say in the 254x series ?? (to do list.. check elwoods site LOL) if a atlas sd60 got over $300 for a custom steve paint job, imagine what at ns unit would fetch!! $$$$$ ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching are you getting the hint there steve?? hehehehe
er....What part of this model is SD40-2 and what part is SD70M? Thanks. Where can I find prototype pictures?
it's called the ICE bulge, Integrated Cab Electronics bulge... http://www.railmodeljournal.com/dec3site/Pages/sd70.html
Great work as per the usual Steve what did you use for the front walk ways and hand rails ? Due you no of any that have been repainted into CN colors yet? Thanks again for sharing your work with us
yup, #1039 is in CN colors - soon ready... the walkways are made out of thin styrene, glued on and sanded down the edges... the handrails are made out of a GMM stanchion, an Atlas stanchion from SD50 handrails and brass wire (thick brass wire to match the original Kato handrails...) it was the first time for me that I did work with stanchions, brasswire and solder but I like it...
Steve Those are really well done. I think a few of the modern NS modelers are scratching there heads on how to do them.
SD70M shells are available from Kato (note: w/o the underframe ! not included and not available as a separate part ) SD40-2 shells are available from Kato (note: only the snoot but that should be the smallest problem to make shorter ) SD70M are available on eBay (for the drive and the underframe) Scott, what is holding you off... ?
