Have some questions that I am hoping can be answered here.

I see that MRC has a drop in decoder available in N Scale now to fit Atlas locomotives such as the GP38 (N Scale). The MRC item number is #0001641.

The information about this decoder was pretty sparse on MRC's website.

Couple of questions that I'd like to know before I decide to buy:

Is this decoder a "quiet drive" i.e. does it avoid the buzzing sound that typically comes with the Lenz decoders that Atlas uses on their decoder equipped models?

Can the decoder be programmed for any kind of lighting effects? Specifically I would want to be able to program the decoder to map the front light to function 0, the rear light to function 1, and have the lights be non-directional (when turned on they stay on, regardless of the direction of travel). I saw nothing in MRC's info that indicated if this could be done or not.

I've had great luck recently with the TCS AMD1 and NCE N12A0 decoders, but I am always interested in seeing what a new brand might offer. Anyone know anything about this MRC decoder?

    Thanks

Good questions! I'm surprised there is so little information in the .pdf file for the 0001641, let alone outside of MRC. Compatible with NMRA DCC standards?

Personally, I'd stick with the proven 'quiet drive' boards you have already used and had luck with. I know the functions are easily customisable with those.

The AMD-1 provides you with dither too. I wouldn't be without it.
