Darn, is it the weekend already? Well, here is some of my HOn3. The K-27 Mudhen is a Brass Westside model and the box car is scratch built.
Doyle Bond brought his latest scratchbuilt project to the SAMRA layout today. Is it some old house or is it famous? Interestingly, it is the house in Lockhart, Texas used in the movie "Secondhand Lions." I am not sure why Doyle is making it; maybe he just likes it. There is a lot of corbel-type scratchbuilt detail.
Hello, everyone, and Merry Christmas! Very nice images...true to form. That large expanse with the engine servicing facility is very impressive. I also like the black and grimy box car. Your scratched building is truly awesome, Flash! And Hemi, you have a nice image with the train nicely captured in its entirety and an indigo sky towering above it...nice work. Russell, I'd like a closer look at those two items, perhaps separately? Mike, thanks for starting the thread. Nice Erie Lackawanna diesels, and it looks like a nice layout. Here are a couple of images from me, at Seneca Falls.
Some oldies of mine from the last layout.... Nothing like switching cars in the middle of the street. ~Donovan in Dallas
Well, I haven't contributed in a while, so here is a peek at a few of my projects...:tb-err: All N scale, of course:tb-wink:
Donovan, Nice photos. Your N scale work looks as good as your HO work. Here's one of tonight's photos.
Thanks, Flash--just add snow! I ended up leaving Shelby about 1:30 PM.. The clouds rolled in thick as pea soup. Time to go home! I should have caught Amtrak's Empire Builder EB, but it was more than 3 hours late. Not sticking around!
SNFF 2007 12 23 Got the GP7B shell and handrails assembled: Next will be decaled details, numberboards, weathering. After starting way back in Sept 2007, it's getting nearer to completion. (whew!)
Some project shots I'm actually getting stuff done on my layout. Nothing too intense looking, just progress. I have been struggling over how to build the viaduct. My usual over think. Tried cutting some wood to build the substructure and realized foam was the best way to go since I am going to cover it with brickwork anyway. Here are some shots of it.
Waste not want not... I didn't have any good material for a fuel dealer so I am recycling an empty Caulk tube for the tanks. I may do a grain elevator out of this sometime later too. I am not sure how to cover them. Part of me is tempted to just fill the tanks with plaster and sand the tops. sheesh the camera makes things look dusty when you use flash. that small structure is salvaged from the structure I'm gutting to get bridgework for my viaduct. Does it look familiar to anyone?
Here's a few from my fairly new roundhouse / engine yard module a friend of mine built. It's the only living, breathing, RR like section of the layout at this time. The rest is all blue foam and plywood! Here's the LORR SW7 waiting for duty: LORR recently acquired a Clinchfield Mallet engine no. 510. Engineer Lloyd and Fireman Nate take her out for a test run before she returns to the shop for an overhaul and new livery. Here's engine 510 backing onto the turntable: Turned around, she's ready to head out... And she takes on some fresh water, sand and coal before heading out of the yard and onto the LORR mainline.
