A Union Pacific ca-something....early version. I need to put marker lamps and correct trucks under it.
To keep this GREAT thread 'arockin'...This is a SP&S that I modeled from the HOBBS book. It was the oldest active SP&S wood caboose at the time of it's demise in 1972 in BN green. Originally came from the Astoria & Columbia River.........
Yes plese let us Know Marty....and for your Milwaukee road caboose with the spelled out name "the Milwaukee road" alons the top edge...... Thanks
Kent and TJ....The SP&S decals came from various decal sheets MS 80-1026 is the best. The 'football' logos are from a very old Northwest decal sheet that I had I guy make for me. the difficult one to find is the 'Northwests Own Railroad'. the Milwaukees, again come from various sheets. The written out MILWAUKEE ROAD is on the MS sheet for early F's and E units. Micro Scale has not had them instock for along time. The logo is from the MS sheet for 50' boxcars. Maroon #'s came from an Erie Lacawana sheet....alot of cut and paste...ALOT
Wow, nice thread. Way back in the 70's I did a rebuild on an entire fleet of Trix cabooses for the Third District, with the 1972-era paint scheme including the black roofs. Added brass ladders and handrails, Walthers & Micro-Scale decals: I think I have nine of them.... I also did one heavy rebuild of a Bachmann to the first series of Ce-8's that arrived in 1975 for the Super C. Lots of work on this one; handrails all replaced by wire, Micro-scale decals, etc.:
I'll add a few of mine. N scale D&H Sesquicentennial HO Erie HO Erie Lackawanna dunmore Dan Pikulski www.DansResinCasting.com
Most recent effort from the Hobbs caboose book. #734 came to the SP&S from the Northern Pacific. It has all of the NP looks except the cupola hand rails added by the SP&S. In looking through the book, I've dicovered an interesting trait. If a caboose came from the GN, it was numbered in front...if it came from the NP the # was toward the rear. No clue to the origin of this trait...............
