I know this has been talked about before, but who makes the loads for the IM Sugar beet cars again?
    Thanks! :D

    Jerry:

Mocalova Model Works makes the sugar beet loads. You have to paint and detail the load.

It fits the IM chip car. [IMG]

Stay cool and run steam...... [IMG]

Ever try using onion seed and a red wash? Pretty easy to do.

Anise seeds work well. fashion a piece of styrofoam to fill the car and top with the seeds.

Any type of real seed you use will be to large, but remember. If you make the beets a true scale size they would loose their deffination and just look like rock or weird colored coal.

Here is the link to MocoLovaWorks catalog page:

    http://mocalova.tripod.com/nscalecatalog.htm

Just scroll down to see the drop-in castings.

Beet color will vary with the area and variety grown. Tan to red will work. I have tried dill and onion seeds in the past but the look wasn't right, color was off.

Sugar beets are still a significant cash crop in Southern Idaho and you can see huge piles of the yellow roots at the shipping stations.

The older beet processing plants make great subjects for models and excellent model railroad industries because of the car traffic generated.

I've seen almost the whole UP yard at Nampa, Idaho full of hopper of sugar beets waiting to get into the sugar plant.

Try mustrd seed. Light brown, round and just about the right size for N scale. Try a wash of medium bronw over them after they are on the foam.

To be stored in that "blimp hangar" just north of I-84? I interviewed with Micron and my office window view, had I taken the job, would have the beet storage. :D

I was thinking that you could use anything that is about the correct size, then seal it up. Sand, seeds, gravel, etc. After that, you could paint or color it anything you like.
