Some people may be famileir with this product, I'm not going into detail about it, for that try their Adds. in MR or their web site www. R0-Ro.org.

I just want to show some photos of it on my layout as I use it for staging.

This is it in the down or run mode. The two tracks you see in the back are on the top shelf and are part of the mainline.
This is raised four shelves. There are two tracks on each shelf so I can stage 8 trains as is.
There are 4 more shelves below them that I have not got set up yet, but when finished will allow me to stage 16 trains without using any layout space. Pretty neat.

Here you can see both tracks.

One of the things I am thinking about is using the R0-Ro to lift a train up to a narrow around the wall second level layout. That will be a long time comeing, even if I can figure out how to make it work.

Another feature I included is a removeable section that can/will host a varity of different industries. Shown here is the beginnings of a refinery.
Other sections will include an intermodel yard and maybe a steel mill.
Some other photos from my layout. Paper mill at Arcata.
Some of the sceanery is down for the stone/gravel quarry.
The large gray station is the site of the RR museum and home to the Eureka Model RR club. N-Scale of course. The white pentagon is the site of the main park and will have viewing stands, exhibits and walkovers to the other sections of the park.

The small train in the background is going up to what will eventually be an industriel switching area.

Let me know what you think.

    Thank you in advance.

Very nice--first user comment on Ro-Ro that I have seen in N.

Will you be adding an operating rotary car dumper at the paper mill?

Neat concept! Was it difficult to install and line up?

Sorry about the goof on the link.

No I will not be adding a working rotary dump to the paper mill as nobody makes one in N-Scale and I can't even begine to imagine how to scratch build one. Do you have any planes for one raysaron?

It is not real easy to build and get the tracks to align but if I can do it then I think any halfway competent modeler with a smidgen of mechanical dexterity should be able too.

That pretty well describes me. I made the initial mistake of not bolting my layout to the wall that the Ro-Ro was bolted to.

    DO NOT DO THAT!!!

Thanks for sharing the ideas and your work. I like the idea of the modular industries.

    That's pretty neat.

I'd be scared to death of my kids bumping it and knocking all my trains off.

    sd90ns:

I'm building a rotary dumper without plans--experimenting as I go along. Three phases: "cage" for three Atlas ore cars (almost done), support for the cage (thinking about how to do that) and the drive mechanism (accumulating parts). Work is proceeding slowly--I work on it for a while and then come back to it later.

There was an article or two on building a rotory car dumper in N Scale magazine a year or so ago.

That is the first time I have seen the Ro Ro in use. Thanks!

    Raysaron & sd90ns & rschaffter- I've got those
issues with the Rotary dump. I'll try to remember
and hunt them up and get the actual dates & pages.

    sd90ns- Looking great!

I like your trackplan. Lots of complex trackage without being too crowded. Any possibility of you posting some pictures showing it better?

The reason you need to bolt the layout to the same wall as the ro-ro, is to keep the rails on the layout aligned to the rails on the ro-ro.

If the layout is "Floating". Then it will never stay in alignment. And believe it on not, if you bolt the ro-ro to one wall and your layout to the opposite wall, the tracks will move in and out of alignment as your house heats and cools. THIS WAS NOT A FUN THING TO DISCOVER!!!

sd90ns, man that is cool! I realize the work to get it just right must have been tremendous, but the benefits must be tremendous as well. I always end up junking up my small layouts because I like to keep changing trains out.

I love what you are doing with layout. But one small suggestion. When you engage the Ro-Ro, I don't suppose you could have it linked to a small sound loop that plays Batman music? :D ;)

What a great tool that is. At such a reasonable price, I'm surprised more N scalers don't go for it. It seems a lot more useful than other projects that folks are so hot on.

    Thanks for sharing.

But if I have Batman music, then I have to consider the whole Robin issue.

I too have been surprised at the low intrest generated by this post both here and on the Atlas forum.

I have been using it for about two months now and couldn't be happier with it. Only problem I am having is that it (ro-ro) in conjunction with my layout has become very complex operationaly. So much potential, so few brain cells. [IMG]
